Rock Springs Daily Rocket-Miner, Dec 23, 1989 ELWOOD WUNNEBURGER Graveside funeral services for Elwood "Tex" Wunneburger, were Friday, Dec. 22, 1898 at the Riverview Cemetery in Green River. The Rev. Ben Smith of the Union Congregational Church officiated with military services conducted by the V.F.W. Post 2321 of Green River. Wunneburger, 63, of 4160 Johnson Way, Green River, died Tuesday, Dec. 19 at the Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County where he had been a patient since Dec. 13. A resident of Green River since 1960 and former resident of Bstrop County, Texas, Wunneburger had been in ill health the past several years. He was born Nov. 22, 1926 in Bastrop County, the son of the late Louis and Alma Lentz Wunneburger. He attended schools in Bastrop County and married the former Verna Ferrell in Elko, Nev., on July 24, 1956. Wunnegurger was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II having served in the South Pacific. Wunneburger was a retired welder and a member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union Local 192. Survivors include his wife, Verna of Green River; one son, James Beutel of Green River; three sisters, Martha Shinn of Austin, Texas; two grandsons, Brian and Bradley Beutel of Green River, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Wunneburger was preceded in death by three brothers.
