OBITUARY-UNKNOWN PAPER-JUNE 4, 1980 Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Pine Creek Cemetery near Vina for Chico native John "Les" Haynes 62. He died Tuesday in a Chico hospital. He was born March 21, 1918, in Chico to Charles and Belva Haynes, who were members of pioneer Chico families. He was reared in the Pine Creek area and graduated from Los Molinas High School. After graduation, he began cattle ranching. During WWII, he served with the U. S. Army in the South Pacific. He married the former Madge Dinnell in 1947. They continued in the cattle business. He also worked for Union Oil Co. He was a member of the Elks Lodge No. 423 in Chico and was a past president of the Northern Counties Quarterhorse Association and the Chico Riding Club. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his mother, Mrs. Belva Haynes of Chico and a sister, Mrs. Clovis Stevenson of Redding. The Rev. Wendell, Pew Pastor at the First Christian Church, will preside at the graveside service. Ron Palmer will sing "In The Garden". Friends may visit the Hall-Van Hook Funeral Chapel until 8 p.m. today. The family requests those who wish may make contributions to the Enloe Hospital Building Fund in care of the funeral home.
