Bio

Ann E. Nelson, 101 of Geneva, Illinois passed away Wednesday, October 17, 2001 at Aurora Manor Nursing Home in Aurora, Illinois. She was born February 17, 1900 in Batavia, Illinois, the daughter of the late Sanfred and Augusta nee Anderson Engstrom. She spent her early years on a farm near Maple Park, Illinois, returning to Batavia where she resided until her marriage to the late Roy G. Nelson in 1920. In 1923 they moved to Geneva and built their home on McKinley Avenue where Ann lived until 1995 when declining health required her moving to a nursing home. Ann was a homemaker and a lifetime member of the Geneva Lutheran Church. She is survived by two daughters, Priscilla (Stewart) Johnson of Chesterfield, Missouri and Audrey Rockwell of San Diego, California; a son, Barton (Susan) Nelson of St. Charles, Illinois; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. Besides her parents and husband, Roy G. she was preceded in death by a daughter, Phyllis Rhodes; five brothers, Evan, Ogden, Howard, Warren and Fred Engstrom; and one sister, Alice Miles. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, October 20, 2001 from the Geneva Lutheran Church, 301 S. Third St., Geneva, Illinois, Rev. Paul Hammar will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Geneva. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM Friday at Yurs Wittenberg Funeral Home, 1771 W. State St. (Rte 38), Geneva. Please omit flowers.
