Bio

Arline Selma Nitzschke, 92 years old, of Remsen, was called home to be with her Lord Thursday, Sept. 13, 2018 surrounded by her three daughters, at Heartland Care Center in Marcus. Arline was born March 28, 1926 at Concord, Neb., the daughter of LeRoy F. and Chloe (Erlandson) Johnson. She was baptized and confirmed in Concordia Lutheran Church, Concord, Neb. She attended rural schools and graduated from Concord High School. She attended Wayne State Teacher College and then taught rural school in Dixon County Nebraska for five years. She then attended business school in Sioux City and later worked in the "Radio Factory" office at Wincharger in Sioux City. She married Marvin Nitzschke at Concordia Lutheran Church in Concord, Neb., on Oct. 10, 1954. They started farming near Remsen in 1955. They moved and farmed near Kingsley in 1960 and then moved back to Remsen in 1970 farming there until 2009. Arline and Marvin spent their years together farming side by side. In July of 2015, the couple moved to Heartland Care Center in Marcus. Marvin passed away August 27, 2015. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Remsen. She loved working in the field and around the farm yard and gardening. She cherished spending time with her family which was her main priority. Survivors include three daughters, RaNae (Dave) Homan of Remsen, Rhonda (Bobby) Dillingham of Farmerville, La., and Lynette (Clark) McGrew of Kahoka, Mo.; grandchildren, Jeremy (Katrina) Homan of Remsen, Jared Homan of New York, N.Y., Merissa Homan of Austin, Texas, Megan (Dustin) York of Cibolo, Texas, and Rylan and Zachary McGrew of Kahoka, Mo.; great-grandsons, Brady and Collin Homan of Remsen; great-granddaughters, Chloe, Braya and Claire Homan also of Remsen; two sisters-in-law, Collen Ott of Le Mars, and Carmen Pearlstein of Clovis, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Marvin; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, William and Edith (Schoenrock) Nitzschke; sisters, Euvodia (Gib) Johnson and Ardyth (Lorence) Anderson; and a brother-in-law, Arnold Ott. Funeral service was Monday, September 17, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church LCMS in Remsen, with Pastor Garret Kasper officiating. Burial will be in the Remsen Community Cemetery at a later date. Visitation with family present was 4-6 p.m. Sunday. There was a prayer service at 6 p.m. all at Christ Lutheran Church LCMS in Remsen. Services were entrusted to Fisch Funeral Home and Monument of Remsen.
