Bio

"The Dodge County Star", Dodge Center, Minnesota, Thursday, Mar. 7, 1918, p 1. Arvilla Hall was born at Petersburg, N. Y., January 21st, 1833, and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Belle Harrison, in Dodge Center, Minn., February 26th, 1918, aged 85 years, 1 month and 5 days. She was one of a family of eleven children and was the last survivor of them. When about 5 years old, she moved with her parents, Maxon and Frances Hall, to Milton, Wisconsin, where she spent her youthful days. In 1855 she was united in marriage to Joel G. Brown and, soon afterwards, they moved to Minnesota, settling near Mantorville. In 1875 they came to Dodge Center. Since her husband's death in 1891, she has spent most of her time with the above named daughter. Early in life she united with the S. D. Baptist Church at Milton, Wisconsin. Later she transferred her membership to the S. D. B. Church at Dodge Center. Still later, hearing the doctrine of the Saviour's soon coming and believing the same, she united with the S. D. Adventist church of which she was a member at her death. She was the mother of five children, Lulu, Effie, Hettie, Frank H. and Belle, the latter two of whom, together with an adopted daughter, Mrs. Nellie Bonser, ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren survive her to mourn their loss. Funeral services were held at the house, conducted by Elder Geo. W. Wells, of Minneapolis, February 28, at 2 p.m. and she was laid to rest beside her husband in Riverside cemetery. Those present from abroad were Mrs. Mattie Hall, a sister-in-law, of West Concord, and Mrs. Minnie Hinton, of St. Paul, a niece.
