Billy Weldon "Bill" Myers went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, June 2, 2004, at the age of 75. His family was at his side all during his last stay at Covenant Hospital. He was born the youngest of 11 children on Feb. 4, 1929, to the late John Henry and Allie Beatrice Eoff Myers in South Plains, Texas. Bill attended school in South Plains until his family moved to Alturas, Calif., in 1942. He graduated from Modoc High School in 1947, joining the U.S. Air Force after graduation where he attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. He moved to Lubbock in 1950. On Oct. 21, 1961, he married Wilda Flinn of Abernathy. Their family was raised in Lubbock. He was employed by Cathey Wholesale for over 44 years, retiring as Vice President in March of 1996. Charles Cathey remained one of his closest friends throughout his life. Bill is survived by Wilda, his wife of 42Ú years; their children, Michael of Reno, Nev., Kelvin, Billy (Dusty) and Devin, all of Lubbock, Rhon da (Guinn) Turner of Grapevine, Texas, Dianne Myers and Betty Cox, both of Corpus Christi, and Loretta (Greg) Holder of Lubbock. He is also survived by his brother, Carl of Clearlake, Calif., and sister, Betty Zuehlke of Sacramento, Calif. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 5 sisters. Bill leaves behind 8 grandsons, 8 granddaughters and 2 great-grandchildren who all brought joy and laughter to his life, and nieces, nephews and friends too numerous to list. Services will be held Friday, June 4, at 2 p.m. at Lubbock Primitive Baptist Church with Elder George Johnson and Gary Flinn offici ating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
