Grand Island (Nebraska) Daily Independent Saturday, 17 June 1989 COMSTOCK - James A. Kriss, 89, died Wednesday, June 14, at the Valley County Rest Home. Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at the Rhoad Funeral Chapel in Sargent. The Rev. Larry Coulter will officiate. Burial will be in the Douglas Grove Cemetery in Comstock... Memorials may be given to the Comstock Rescue Unit. Mr. Kriss was born April 11, 1989 (sic), in Custer County, north of Comstock, to James and Mary (Weverka) Kriss. He attended school at District 86. When Mr. Kriss was 12 years old the family moved to the Longwood area where he also attended school. On Sept. 2, 1926, he married Lottie Niles at North Platte. The lived in the Woods Park community for 62 years. Mr. Kriss always farmed. He was baptized in the Catholic faith. In October 1988 Mr. Kriss moved to the Valley County Rest Home. Mr. Kriss is survived by his wife, Lottie of rural Comstock; two daughter, Emily VanDyke of Grand Island and Wanda Erks of Loup City; 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
