JAMES HAMILL OF MURCHISON KILLED IN ITALY Mr. and Mrs. G.C. Hamill, of Murchison, have been notified of the death of their son, James C.(Buster) Hamill, who died on December 1, 1943, the same day he was wounded in action in Italy. He was a sharpshooter in the 34th Division of General Clark's 5th Army. Buster was born in the Shady Grove community on February 5, 1925, and attended the Brownsboro schools, where he was a member of both the football and basketball teams. He enlisted in April 1943, and received his training at Camp Joseph T. Robinson, Arkansas He went overseas in September. Mr. and Mrs. Hamill have three other children, Mrs. Joe B. Murry and Miss Mildred Hamill of Dallas and Abner E. Hamill, now overseas with the Armed Forces. Buster was a grandson of G.W. Hamill and Mr. and Mrs. J.R. McClain of Murchison and a cousin of Darrell Edwards, who was reported missing after the fall of the Philipines. He was a member of the Church of God. Published in the Athens Review February 17, 1944
