Bio
Kate first married Louis Stenner on 24 Nov 1898 in Grant County. They divorced between 1905 and 1910. Obituary: Mason City Gazette, 24 Nov 1958 Katherine Elizabeth Matthews, 78, widow of Arthur Matthews, died Saturday evening at a Mason City nursing home following an illness. She had made her home at 321 2nd SW, and had lived in Mason City more than 50 years. Mrs Matthews was born June 5, 1880, at Boscobel, Wis, daughter of Sebastian and Maria Heller. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1911 and by a son, four brothers and three sisters. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs Roy (Bertha) Simmons, West Des Moines, and Mrs Gertrude Freeman, Fresno, Calif, and by a brother, Adam Heller, Mason City. Funeral services will be held at 11 am Wednesday in the Major Memorial Chapel. Dr George Truman Carl, pastor of the First Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel after 2 pm Tuesday.
