One son of Sam and Montie Wood died in infancy and was buried in what was once the Jackson Prairie Cemetery which is now abandoned and on private land. He was Oscar F. Wood born 6/5/1892 and died 9/6/1897.
Bio originally created and added by: Robert C Mize - Added: 19 Sep 2010======= Sam Wood, my grandfather, was a Tool area farmer who married Montie Ethelda (Estes) Wood. That union produced the following children who were raised on the Wood farm very near this spot where Granddaddy Wood now rests next to Grandmother: Oscar Franklin Wood, Altie Mae (Wood)Humphries, Walter D. Wood, Lila (Wood)Humphries, Carrie Lee (Wood)Mize, Willard C. Wood, Edna (Wood)Gandy, and Beulah Ola (Wood)Jordan. Their children except for Aunt Beulah and Oscar Franklin are also at rest here in the Tool Cemetery next to their husbands. Aunt Beulah is in the Malakoff Cemetery next to her husband Roland L. Jordan. The land that now comprises the Tool Cemetery and the Community Church was part of the Wood property and was donated to the community by Sam Wood and the family. The father and mother of Sam Wood, Nelson P. Wood and Sarah Jane (Wilson) Wood are buried nearby as are many other members of the Wood family.
