Rites Held For Mrs. Nekuda Mrs. Marie Nekuda, 81, a long time resident of Sargent, died Saturday afternoon at the Community hospital following a lingering illness. Funeral services were held Monday morning in St. Mary's Catholic Church. The Rev. Joseph Syznal was the celebrant of the requiem high mass and was assisted by the choir. The rosary was recited Sunday evening at the Spooner Rhoad Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Mrs. Nekuda's grandsons, Millard Kuklish, Lumire Kuklish, Charles Nekuda Jr.. Bryce Nekuda, Alfred Stepanek and Edward Stepanek. Burial was in the Mount Hope Cemetery. Spooner-Rhoad Funeral handled the arrangements. Mrs. Nekuda was born in Halubokin Brno, Czechoslovakia on August 12, 1878, to John and Marie Fanta. On May 17, 1897 she was married to Karel Nekuda at Vinosovi, Czechoslovakia. They came to the United States in 1903 and settled on a farm near Sargent. They were the parents of five children. The couple moved to Sargent in 1940, and Mr. Nekuda passed away in 1944. She was a member or St. Mary's Catholic Church. Mrs. Nekuda is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Frances Paul, Mrs. Anna Kuklish and Mrs. Bessie Carr, both of Sargent. A son Charlie of Taylor, a brother John Fanta of Dannebrog, a sister Mrs. Frances Strasek of Czechoslovakia 13 grandchildren, and 31 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and a daughter.
