Guggenmos Rites Held Wednesday Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon for Henry Guggenmos, 71, who died Sunday afternoon following a long illness. Rev. Merle Zook had charge of the services, held at the Sargent Methodist church. "In the Garden" and "I've Done My Work" were sung by Mrs. Grace Kidder, accompanied by Mrs. Harold Pointer, pianist. Pallbearers were Vencial Huss, Gardner Pierce, George Jensen, Robert Gibson, George Steinhoff and Dale Dickman. Interment was at the Mt. Hope cemetery. (obituary) Henry Guggenmos was born in Bavaria in Germany on November 8, 1880, to Benedict and Barbara Guggenmos. He passed away July 27, 1952, at the age of 71 years, 8 months, 19 days. When he was 3 1/2 years old, he came to this country with his parents. They settled in Custer County about 3 miles north of Sargent. The remainder of his life had been lived in this community. On April 24, 1907 he was married to Mary Chalupa, and to this union, three children were born, two of whom died in infancy. He was also preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Mark, and sister, Veronica. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife of Sargent, Nebr., his son, Leo of Bismarck, North Dakota; three grandchildren, Mary lea, Carolyn, and Henry Leo; one sister, Mrs. Sophia Werber of Coos Bay, Ore.; four brothers, Anton of Ord, Nebr., John of North Loup, Nebr., George of Vera, Saskatchewan, Canada, and Mike of Broken Bow, Nebr. , Henry Guggenmos was a mason by trade. He loved his work, and will be missed greatly by his relatives and friends.
