From the Palmer Journal, July 14, 1938, page 1, transcribed by Linda Berney: The funeral of Verdon Tuttle, 28, son of Mrs. Grace Tuttle of near Big Springs, was held Tuesday. Mr. Tuttle died Saturday night in a hospital at Ogallala from injuries received in an explosion Thursday while he was soldering the gas tank of the farm tractor. Verdon lived with his mother on a farm near Big Springs. Mrs. Tuttle is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Newman of Palmer. Mrs. Newman, Mrs. Ora Woods and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Newman attended the funeral -------------------------
