From The Palmer Journal April 16 and 23, 1942, page 1, transcribed by Linda Berney: This community was greatly shocked to hear that Robert Nedrig, who has resided on the Gus Wegner farm east of Palmer for the past several years, passed away at a sanitarium in Lincoln Tuesday morning after a little more than a week of serious illness. An examination after death disclosed that he had suffered a serious infection of the lungs, and an embolus in a sinus near the brain. Robert was taken to the St. Francis hospital in Grand Island the first of last week for treatment, and Friday he was taken to Lincoln. ~~~~ Robert Oliver Nedrig was born in the neighborhood south east of Palmer on December 22, 1905, and passed away on April 14, 1942, at Green Gables Sanitarium, Lincoln, Nebr., on the morning of April 14, 1942, at the age of 36 years, 3 months and 23 days. He was taken sick very suddenly which illness only lasted a few days, making his untimely death a great shock to his wife, children, father, mother, brothers, sisters, many other relatives and a large number of friends. Robert was a man of fine disposition, quiet, honest and upright and greatly admired by his many friends. In infancy he was baptized at the Zion Evangelical church of Archer.
