She graduated from Lehi H. S. (1940), where she excelled at tennis, singing and playing the saxophone. Esther loved education and earned an R. N. degree from Salt Lake General College (1944) and served as an Army Cadet (WAC) with rank of lieutenant. She married Quey Chester Hebrew Dec. 27, 1946 and they were sealed for time and eternity in the Logan Temple. Esther practiced a lifelong nursing career in most of the western states, New York, South America, Eastern Europe and Israel. She also flew as one of the very first stewardesses for Western Airlines and found time to exercise her love of singing with the William Hall Chorale (Los Angeles) and the Metropolitan Opera Association (New York City). She also served on the board of the John Hutchings Museum of Natural History. Esther was a lifelong and devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities, including Relief Society President, Chorister and Primary Supervisor. She completed a total of four LDS missions to Guatemala, Romania and twice to Bulgaria. She served a medical humanitarian mission to Peru and sailed on the Tall Ship Christian Radich from England to New York as ship nurse. Preceded in death by her loving husband, Quey; brothers: Harold and John Lamar; and sister, Laurel Merrell. She is survived by her son, Dr. John Linke Hebrew (Penelope); grandchildren: Ashley Erin and Ryan Alexander; and great-granddaughter, Addison Grace. Esther's kind and caring heart and tireless spirit touched the lives of many and she leaves this world a better place for her sojourn upon it.
