John D. Kroeker, 87; former chief of police in Reedley REEDLEY Memorial services for John Daniel Kroeker, 87, the former Reedley chief of police, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the First Mennonite Church. Burial will be in Reedley Cemetery. Mr. Kroeker died Tuesday. He was born in Henderson, Neb., and had lived in Reedley for 51 years. Mr. Kroeker served as chief of police for 10 years before retiring in 1966. He had been with the department since 1942. He was a member of the church, the Reedley Eagles Lodge and a life member of the California Peace Officers Association. Surviving are his wife, Louise; two daughters, Lucille Turk of Fresno and Edna Parkinson of Reedley; three brothers, Henry of Nebraska, Pete of Reedley and Dan of Santa Maria; four sisters, Eva Janzen, Nettie Kroeker and Mary Goertzen, all of Nebraska and Anna Remple of Altadena; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. The family requests that any remembrances be made to the American Diabetes Association or Sierra View Homes.
