Bio

James Atwood "Buck" Thompson, 92, formerly of Corsicana passed away Sunday, Dec. 14, 2008, in Tyler. He was born Oct. 6, 1916, in Blooming Grove to Phinas Jackson and Hattie Irene Parks Thompson. Mr. Thompson was a longtime member of Westside Baptist Church. He was retired from the military. He was kind to all, very generous and caring.He was preceded in death by wife, Mary Lucille Thompson of 53 years. He is survived by nieces, Ruby Lee and family, Carolyn Rutherford and family, and Dorothy Gilmore and family. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home. Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Griffin-Roughton Chapel with Wayne Mahoney officiating. Burial will follow at Hamilton-Beeman Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Fred Watson, G.H. Basham, Billy Bob Collier and A.J. Widner. Arrangements by Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home. Corsicana Daily Sun 16 Dec 2008
