St Paul Phonograph-Herald St. Paul, Nebraska, 13 Oct 1971 - George Vlach Rites Wednesday Funeral services for George Vlach, native of Cotesfield, were held on Wednesday, October 6, at 2 o'clock at the Methodist Church in Cotesfield. The Rev Douglas Norris officiated. Mrs Milton Moravec sang "In the Garden" and "Beyond the Sunset." Mrs Erving Hanzel was the organist and played the prelude and postlude. Serving as pallbearers were grandsons, Joe Ingerle, Raymond Jackson, Robert, Ric, Ronald Vlach and George Vlach III. Burial was in the Cotesfield cemetery. Keating Mortuary was in charge of arrangements. George Vlach was born on July 22, 1880 at Omaha, NE and died Sunday October 3 at the hospital in St Paul. He was 91 years of age. His parents, Lenhardt and Barbara (Kruml) Vlach moved from Omaha to a farm near Cotesfield when George was a child of five years. He attended the nearby rural school and beame a farmer. On May 8, 1911 he was married to Miss Lucy Tuma and they farmed west of Cotesfield. Four sons and three daughters were born to this union. In 1947 Mr and Mrs Vlach retired from the farm and moved into Cotesfield. Mrs Vlach died July 24, 1963 and his son John died August 21, while Mr Vlach was in the hospital. He was also preceded in death by a daughter Lillian and by two brothers, James and Joe. He was an avid gardener and loved flowers and fruit trees. The many fruits and vegetables were always distributed to the friends and neighbors. Mr Vlach often remarked that "he just liked to see things grow." He was also fond of fishing. He loved children and enjoyed their many visits with him. Mr Vlach is survived by his children: three sons, George Jr of Grand Island, Leonard of Cotesfield, and Millard of Scotia; two daughters, Mrs Vern (Lucille) Jackson of Cozad and Mrs Albert (Kathryn) Ingerle of Elba; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs Anna Krepel of St Paul and Mrs Kathryn Sloup of Omaha and a brother, Prokop Vlach of Ordway, CO and other relatives.
