HERMAN DUNCKLEY: 1908-1989 Herman M. Dunckley passed away on May 2,1989, at his home near Florissant. Services were held on Friday, May 5 at the Olinger Mortuary in Wheatridge. Masonic graveside services were held at the Oak Creek Cemetery on Friday afternoon. Pallbearers were Robert Gilbert, Bernard Kuskie, Spiro Calas, James Dawson, John Courtney and Frank Dunckley. Born in Yampa on March 29, 1908, Herman was the son of Walter H. and Mary Alice Yoast Dunckley. He worked in many area coal mines before going to work for the town of Oak Creek where he was the superintendent of the town until 1966. At that time he went to Denver where he worked for the city of Arvada, retiring in 1973. He married Lucille L. Miller on October 11,1931. She preceded him in death in 1959. He was also preceded in death by his parents and an infant daughter. He married Katherine A. Dawson on May 17, 1968, in Edgewater. He and Katherine enjoyed traveling and camping during most of his retirement years. They bought a cabin near Florissant where they enjoyed many years together. He is survived by his widow, Katherine; two sons, Delbert Dunckley of Louisville, Kentucky; Frank Dunckley of Lakewood; two daughters, Theora Courtney of Toponas and Verna Holmes of Craig; one stepson, James Dawson of Arvada; two sisters, Verna Robinson and Dorothy Wright of Aurora; two brothers, Chester Dunckley of Hayden and C.O. Dunckley of Aurora; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
