First married to Muriel Price in 1936. There were no children from this union. Muriel died before Oscar remarried to Jane Wax in 1946. ---------------------------------------------- Oscar Louis Planansky, of Hemingford died Saturday May 13, 1995 at the Veterans Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona. He was born to JJ and Anna Planansky in Hemingford, Nebraska on February 15, 1912. He graduated from Hemingford High Schhool in 1930. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps and worked for Morrison-Knudson when he was captured by the Japanese in December, 1941 on Wake Island during World War II. He was interred in a Japanese prisoner of war camp in China until September, 1945. He returned to Hemingford and married Jane Kloppel Wax on November 11, 1946. He was variously employed as a grocer, bookkeeper, and municipal employee of the City of Alliance. During his lifetime he was active in the Lions Club, Elks, Boy Scouts, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Survivors of Wake, Guam and Cavite, American Prisoners of War, and the Hemingford Golf Association. He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. Survivors include his wife Jane of the home; a daughter Mary Jane Forsstrom of Hemingford; three sons, Robert Planansky of Washington, D.C., Gary Wax of Pensacola, Florida, and Ronald Wax of Omaha, Nebraska; two brothers, Wilmer Planansky of Cayucos, CA, and Leonard Planansky of Boise, Idaho; three sisters, Alice Rockey of Alliance, Ne; Joan Weymouth of Ontario Oregon, and Florence Chizek of Boise, Idaho; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
