Mr. Moravek and Miss Katharine Sokol were united in marriage August 29, 1870. Her parents were natives of Bohemia, where she was born. Nine children were born: Joseph, Anna, James, Mayme, Charles, Mary Katherine, Agnes, William and Ella. One baby girl was buried at Hay Springs, NE. In 1886 Mr. Moravek came to Box Butte County, driving with three teams and a covered wagon, and with a herd of cattle. They spent seven weeks on the road. He spent two months in Hay Springs, while looking for a suitable location, finally locating in T 26 R 52, hauling all his supplies from Hay Springs. He devoted some time to freighting from Hay Springs to Alliance. Leaving his family on their farm in Nebraska, he went to South Dakota, where he became associated with the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad Co. He then spent six years at Ardmore, returned to Nebraska and, with the assistance of his sons, raised three hundred head of cattle. He has secured possession of other tracts of land besides his original entry, and now has a ranch of seven quarter sections of good land, one hundred acres are under cultivation. From western Nebraska 1909 - In the early spring of 1918 his success made it possible for him to sell his land and stock and move to Hemingford, where he bought property and erected a nice home, from which he passed peacefully away on April 9, 1926, being 76 years old. Mrs. Moravek passed away December 14, 1927 at the age of 77. Both are buried in the Hemingford cemetery.
