Bio

Ardith was the daughter of John W. and Emma (Hake) Evans. Born in Olympia, Washington, she grew up on a farm near Marsland, Nebraska. She was a member of the first and largest graduating class of Marsland High School. On Jan. 27, 1937 she married Oscar Michael Keane and they resided in Marsland and had 2 children: Larry Lloyd and Sheryl Emma. Ardith worked for the Chicago Burlington and Quincy Railroad when mail was delivered by train. She helped sort and transport outgoing mail to the train and brought back incoming mail to the post office. She also acted as Assistant Postmistress, served on the school board, town board, and election board throughout the years. She loved cooking for over 25 years for the hot lunch program at Marsland School District 92 and spending time with all the school children. In 1996 she moved to Auburn, Nebraska to be close to family. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and her husband's parents Emma and Winfield U. Keane, brothers-in-law: Edward, John, Harold and Winfield and sisters-in-law: Agnes, Alice, Wilma, Elsie and Emma. Ardith is survived by her children Larry Keane and wife Gale of Kennewick, Washington and Sheryl Hitch and husband Harold of Auburn, Nebraska. Also by grandchildren: Cindy and husband Steve Rychard of Fox Island, Washington; Candy and husband Jon Larscheid of Auburn, Washington; Carla and husband Jim Facinelli of Shawnee, Kansas; Brad and wife Stephanie Kissler of Grand Island, Nebraska; Ron and wife Karen Kissler of Sidney, Nebraska; great-grandchildren: Crystal, Lacey and Ryan Rychard; Courtney and Lewis Larscheid; Tony, Jake and Luke Facinelli; step-great granddaughter Kennedy Martinez; step-grandchildren: Brad, Darryl and Tim Hitch. A memorial service was held at the United Methodist Church in Hemingford on January 17, 2011. Private family inurnment followed at the Hemingford Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Hemingford Volunteer Firefighters Association or Crawford Volunteer Fire and Rescue. Arrangements were entrusted to Hemmingsen Funeral Home of Auburn, Nebraska.
