Bio

The obituary for Mrs. Clarinda L. E. Rose stated that she had died at the family home northwest of Windsor Feb. 12. The funeral was held at the home on Friday afternoon, Feb. 14 at 2:00 o'clock. The officiating minister was D. A. Sommer of Indianapolis. Her favorite song, "All is Well", and also "The Realm of the Blest" were read by Evangelist D. A. Sommer. Interment was in Sand Creek cemetery. Mrs. Rose's death occurred just 22 years to a day after the burial of her husband. Mrs. Rose was born in Whitley township in Moultrie County, IL, Oct. 17, 1853. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. K. Baker, pioneers of this section. In 1872 she was married to James K. P. Rose, who died Feb. 10, 1914. Eight children were born of this union. All were living. They were: Mrs. Clarabell Wilson of Champaign, Mrs. Iva B. Guin of Findlay; Mrs. C. D. Baker of Windsor, Carter of St. Louis, Wilbur W. of Decatur, Henry, Kenny and Lucinda at home. Of her eight children, 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, only one grandchild was deceased. Charles Fred Baker was the only one of her brothers and sisters then living. She had been a member of Sand Creek Church of Christ since early womanhood. Mrs. Rose took great delight in reading good literature, current news and her Bible, which she read in its entirety several times in her declining years. It was noted that her passing away was as peaceful as her life had always been. Most of her interests were concentrated in her family and her home. Her vigilant care and interest in her afflicted son were noteworthy. Windsor Gazette - Tuesday - 18 Feb 1936
