FINAL RITES HELD FOR J. A. DANCER The Hamilton Herald-News April 1, 1949 Funeral services were held Tuesday of last week for J. A. Dancer, 78, who died at his home here Monday after an illness of ten days. The final rites were held at Bob Riley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Clifford Hampton, pastor of Littleville Baptist Church, officiating. Interment was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery. [ sic. New IOOF Cemetery] Mr. Dancer, who has been a resident of Hamilton for the past 37 years, was born November 17, 1870. He was married to Miss Maggie Smith. He was engaged in the barber business in Hamilton for 30 years and retired a few years ago. Surviving are a son, Tom Dancer of El Paso, and a step-son, Ross Cox, of Wichita Falls. A number of nephews and nieces, including Mrs. Bradley Gardner, also survive.
