Services for James C. Snider, 80, of Hawkins, were held at 10am Monday, August 23, 2010 at the First Baptist Church of Hawkins with Bro. Bill Holmes and Bro. Seth Johnston officating. Pallbearers were: Jeremy Rushing, Jason Rushing, Jason Williams, Kyle Snider, Jeff Snider, and Louie Snider. Honorary pallbearers were: Richard Clifton, Bobby Simmons, Jerry Jones, Larry Lewis, Melvin Rutherford, James Perry Hall, Frank Rucker, Dick Rodgers, Melvin Walker, and Aaron Brown. Burial was in the Hawkins City Cemetery under the direction of Beaty Funeral Home, Hawkins. Mr. Snider died August 20, 2010. He was born February 20, 1930 in Hawkins to Eston and Ella Snider. He served in the US Air Force, was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hawkins and served as the longtime director of Hawkins Cemetery. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Etta Snider; sons, Lynn Snider and wife Mary, Terry Snider and wife Janet, and Michael Snider; daughter, Sherri Rushing and her husband Jerry Don; sisters, Beth Waller and Lula Mae Beavers; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Visitation was 2 to 4pm on Sunday at the funeral home.
