Bio
The family name was sometimes Darter, sometimes Tarter. He married Sarah Susan "Sally" Spurlock in 1798. They had 15 children: Frances, Henry, Michael, Andrew, Susan, Nancy, John, Ann, Robert, Daniel, Nicholas III, Sarah "Sally", Polly, Elizabeth, and Stephen. From: The Darter-Tarter-Daughters Families - "Nicholas Darter Jr (son of Nicholas Sr and Maria Parcell) Born Lincoln Co, NC then moved to Wythe co, Va. He and Sally both buried in Mt. Mitchell Methodist Cemetery north of Wytheville, Va. Nicholas Jr died in 1858 and Sally died 16 years later. The Cemetery was just across the road from the house built by Nicholas Darter Sr.
