Bio

John Flood was born on December 13, 1847, in Rhode Island, his father, Hugh, was 35 and his mother, Catherine Francis O'brian, was 34. He was a master ax man and worked cutting railroad ties for track being laid to Texas. He met his wife Mollie in the "tie camp" in which she worked as a cook. He married Mary Martin (Mollie) Shockley in 1894. They had four children in 10 years. He died on March 17, 1939, and was buried in Harrison, Texas, at the age of 91.
