From the August 18, 2010 edition of the Rockford Register Star GLENN E. WESTBROOK, 87 ROCKTON - Glenn E. Westbrook, 87, of Rockton died at 4:50 p.m. Monday, Aug. 16, 2010, in Medina Manor Nursing Center, after a lengthy illness. Born Sept. 6, 1922, in Comstock, Neb., the son of Oral and Marie (Kamarad) Westbrook. Married Virginia M. Britton on June 11, 1944, in Belvidere. Employed by Barnes Drill and then worked as a self-employed contractor. Veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Air Force. Life member of Durand American Legion Gold Star Post No. 676. Graduated from Nebraska schools. Survivors include wife Virginia Westbrook of Rockton; daughter, Christine M. (Rod) Howell of Brighton, Colo.; son, Ronald G. Westbrook of Ponderay, Idaho; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Eunice McNeil of Lincoln, Neb., and Dellora Hill of Beloit, Wis.; and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents, and brothers, Melvin and Maxie Gale. Funeral ceremonies at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 21, in Shirland United Methodist Church, with visitation from 10 a.m. to time of service; the Rev. Roland Harkleroad, pastor, officiating. Burial in Harrison Township Cemetery, Harrison.
