James C. ''Jim'' Welford , a retired farmer, died Thursday in a Mobile hospital. He was 83. Welford , a resident of Leakesville, was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Mount Pisgah United Pentecostal Church in Leakesville. He is survived by his wife, Oneida Crocker Welford of Leakesville; four sons, Marvin Welford , Charles Welford , Jimmy Welford and Ollie Welford , all of Leakesville; four daughters, Joyce Newton of Raymond, Miss., Augustine Carter and Carolyn Sue Holcombe, both of Brandon, Miss., and Ann Wilmoth of Semmes; one brother, Floyd Welford of Silas; two sisters, Myrtle Lack of Jackson, Miss., and Emma Smith of Lucedale, Miss.; 20 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Visitation will begin at 5 tonight at Mount Pisgah United Pentecostal Church. The funeral will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church with interment in the church cemetery.
