Donald, son of Pete John Mikoloyck and Anna F (Blaha) Mikoloyck. Siblings: Paul Pete, Harold Eugene. Chappell Register, Chappell, NE, Thu, 18 Jun 1959, pg. 4 Mikoloyck – Orton Summary St. Mary's Catholic Church, Hamburg, IA was the wedding on 3 Jun of Miss Phyllis Orton (Mr. and Mrs. Leonell Orton) of Sidney, IA and Donald Mikoloyck (Mr. and Mrs. Pete Mikoloyck of Chappell). Mrs. Loren Miller, sister of bride, was maid of honor. Mrs. Paul Mikoloyck of Oshkosh was bridesmaid. The bride was given in marriage by her father. The bride carried a white prayer book and a bouquet of white roses. The best man was Harold Mikoloyck brother of the groom. LaVerne Orton, brother of the bride, was groomsman. Pete Mikoloyck seated guests. Mrs. Orton wore navy blue and the groom's mother in apricot lace. A reception was held at the bride's parents' house with 50 attending. The bride is a teacher in Oshkosh grade school and the groom is engaged in farming south of Oshkosh. Attending from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Loren Miller and daughters of Nebraska City; Mr. and Mrs. Pete Mikoloyck of Chappell; Mr. and Mrs. Theo Kalb of Chappell; Mrs. Katie Nelson of David city; Mr. Clair Brannen and daughter of David City; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Mikoloyck, Jolaen and Larry, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Mikoloyck and daughters and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Mikoloyck and family Elba, NE; Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Mather and daughters of Waverly. Don Mikoloyck, 77 of Oshkosh, Nebraska died Friday morning, July 9, 2010 at the Ogallala Community Hospital in Ogallala, Nebraska. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, July 12, 2010 in the St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church in Oshkosh with Father Neal Nollette officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Elizabeth's Cemetery. A Rosary service will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Sunday evening at the church. Donald William Mikoloyck, the son of Peter Paul and Anna (Blaha) Mikoloyck was born December 4, 1932 on the family homestead south of Oshkosh. He attended country school in Garden County at District #56. His freshman year in high school he attended St. Patrick's parochial school in Sidney before graduating from Chappell High School in 1950. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1950 to 1952. He then studied agriculture at Colorado A. & M., now Colorado State University in Ft. Collins, Colorado for three years. On June 3, 1959 he was united in marriage to Phyllis Louis Orton at Hamburg, Iowa. They made their home in Garden County on the Mikoloyck homestead where he was engaged in farming and raising cattle. Besides the agriculture ventures, Don did many other things including working for the Egging Company at Gurley, on the I-80 interchange at Julesburg, as a plumber helper for Jack Daily, at the Sioux Army Depot in Sidney, for the A.S.C.S. Office measuring bins and farm acreage and helping other area farmers at different times. Don always loved being around children, attending all of his children's school activities and at one time coaching the country school boy's basketball tan. He loved nature, especially water witching, and animals, even naming one of his bulls Romeo. He loved to coffee with his family, friends and neighbors and played pitch almost every afternoon. Don was an accomplished artist, winning many awards for his artistic abilities. He attended craft fairs where he sold his windmill design. Survivors include his wife Phyllis Mikoloyck of Oshkosh, NE; two sons: Ronald Mikoloyck of Oshkosh, NE and Steven Mikoloyck of Overland, KS; one daughter JoAnn Farran of David City, NE; three grandchildren: Courtney Mikoloyck and Eric Prochaska both of Lincoln, NE and Devin Prochaska of David City, NE; as sister-in-law June Mikoloyck of Oshkosh, NE; a brother-in-law LaVern and wife Charlotte Orton of Sabetha, KS and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Pete and Paul Mikoloyck, sister-in-law Ardis Mikoloyck, nephew Lance Orton and Donna and Loren Miller.
