June 13, 1940 Unknown paper Derrick W. Jeffries - Died Saturday, June 8, 1940 Mr. Derrick W. Jeffries, highly respected citizen of Miller and sur- rounding counties, passed away at his home in Eldon, MO., Satur- day morning, June, 8, 1940 at 11 o'clock, following an illness of nine years, from the effects of a paraly- tic stroke. He was 74 years, 10 months, and 28 days old. Mr. Jeffries was born July 11, 1865, near Iberia, Mo. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert K. Jeff- ries and had spent most of his life in Miller County. He was married February 22, 1891 to Mary Emmaline Huddleston. Seven children were born to this union; four of whom survive, as foll- ows; Alta (Mrs. J. O. McCubbin), of Eldon, Mo.; Robert of Osage Beach Mo.; Otis of Watkins, Mo., and Fern (Mrs. Ralph Devore), of Brumley, Mo. He is also survived by Mrs. Jeffries; two brothers and two sisters; a num- ber of grandchildren; and many other relatives and a host of friends. Mr. Jeffries professed faith in Christ early in life and united with the General Baptist Church at New Hope. He lived a fine Christian life and was loved by all who knew him. Funeral services were held Sun- day afternoon at the New Hope Church by the Rev. Virgil Smith of Brumley. Interment was in the New Hope ceme- tery with the Eldon Funeral Home in charge.
