Bio

Rev. Willis L. Murdaugh Jr., 61, died April 11, 1997, in his home in San Jose, Calif. Interment was April 15, in Los Gatos, Calif. He was born Nov. 22, 1935, in Springfield, Mo., to Willis L. and Ava Murdaugh. He was married to Roberta J. Tarbutton, Dec. 14, 1956. He was a veteran of both the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He was pastor of Alum Rock Baptist Church, San Jose, Calif., at the time of his death. He was preceded in death by his father, Rev. W.L. Murdaugh Sr. He is survived by his wife, Roberta, of the home; four sons, and their wives, Mark and Cheryl, David and Denise, Russell and Shannon, and Daniel and Linda; five grandchildren, Andrew, Veronica, Joshua, Zachary and Amy; his mother, Ava Murdaugh; two brothers, Rodney and Stephen; two sisters, Jeanie Wright and Reta Scola; his in-laws, Robert and Gladys Tarbutton; and many other relatives and friends. Memorial services will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 1, 1997, in Herman Lohmeyer Funeral Home, 500 E. Walnut. Memorial contributions may be made tothe Alum Rock Baptist Bible Fund, 2962 Story Road, San Jose, Calif. 95127. (News-Leader, Springfield, MO, Tuesday, April 29, 1997)
