"Joseph Adolph Nejtek, 85, of Manor, Texas passed away Thursday, September 17, 2009, at his home following an extended illness. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his family and close friends. Mr. Nejtek was born October 7, 1923. Born and raised in Taylor, Texas, the son of Joe and Lillie Nejtek, he was a long-term resident of Manor, Texas. He was preceded in death by his mother and father Joe and Lillie Nejtek and also his wife Billie June Nejtek; brothers Johnnie and Elick Nejtek; and sister Adella Driska. Surviving are his two daughters Pamela Nejtek and Beverly Ball Ross, both from Manor; three brothers Danny, George and Rudy Nejtek; and two sisters Lillie Autrey and Mary Kelso; six grandchildren Stephen, Stephanie, Sabrina and Spencer Samford and Christopher and Curtis Ball; his two great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Peyton; and numerous other relatives and close friends. In 1940, he joined the U.S. Army, where he served as a supply driver in Germany during World War II. After these years of service, Mr. Nejtek owned and operated his own construction business, Joe A. Nejtek Construction Company. He mastered the arts of concrete and led his life building a solid foundation. He met the love of his life, his wife, Billie June Winslett, by introduction from family and was shortly thereafter married on January 21, 1954, in Austin, Texas. Mr. Nejtek had a passion for his Family and his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was a long-time member of Hornsby Bend Assembly of God Church where he recognized the mighty works of His God. His smile, generosity, knowledge, and sweet spirit will be greatly missed by all those he knew him...." ("Austin American-Statesman," September 20, 2009)
