Rueben E. Kotrla, 84 went home to be with his Lord & Savior on Sunday, August 8, 2010. He was a long time resident of Channelview. He was the loving husband of Annie Dlouhy Kotrla who preceded him in death in 1991. He was born to Edward and Lydia Kotrla of Crosby. Rueben served in the United States Army during WWII in the Pacific Aleutian Islands. He was a retiree of Exxon Baytown. Rueben was a avid reader, enjoyed gardening, growing roses and Polka music and was known for his sense of humor. He was preceded in death by wife Annie & son Ronald Kotrla. He is survived by son Calvin & wife Sherlyn of Magnolia, son Charles of Louisiana, daughter-in-law Dewanna of Huffman, sister Evelyn Wotipka & husband Edgar of Highlands; Seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren; Uncle Rueben had numerous beloved nieces & nephews. The family wishes to express heart felt appreciation to those who showed compassion & care for Rueben in his final year; Hearthstone Assisted Living of Conroe, Regent Care Center of The Woodlands and Odyssey Hospice of Conroe. A visitation will be held Tuesday, August 10, 2010 from 6-9pm at Sterling ~ White Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at 10:00am at Crosby, Brethern Church, 5202 1st Street, Crosby, TX 77532, with burial following at Sterling ~ White Cemetery in Highlands, Texas. Services have been entrusted to Sterling ~ White Funeral Home, 11011 Crosby Lynchburg Road, Highlands, Texas 77562. In lieu of flower the family request donations to be made in Rueben's honor to Odyssey Healthcare Center of Conroe, 100 I-45, Suite 300, Box 103, Conroe, Texas 77301.
