Rites Held Monday For Mrs. G. W. McFarland Mrs. G. W. McFarland, former Honey Grove resident whose home was at 6236 Victor, Dallas, died at 3:15 o'clock Monday morning, January 4, 1971 in Fireside Lodge, Dallas. She had been ill for the past six months. The funeral, Tuesday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock was in the First Baptist church of Honey Grove with the Rev. T. J. Watts of Camden, Arkansas, former local minister, as officiant. Cooper-Sorrells directed interment in Oakwood Cemetery. Named pallbearers were Robert Shelton, Jr., Weldon Collins, Browning Neal, Jimmy Myers, Louie Rhodes and Clyde Pope. A native of Arkansas, Mrs. McFarland was the former Mada Eugenia Clem, daughter of Aleck Clem and Mattie Baldwin Clem. She was married to G. W. McFarland at the parsonage of the First Baptist Church in Paris on February 29, 1904. He died May 5, 1957. She was a member of the Lakewood Baptist Church in Dallas. She was a very active church worker, having taught Sunday school classes for over 50 years. She was also an officer of the church's WMS for many years. Survivors include a son, Gerald McFarland of Dallas and one grandson.
