Services were set for Wednesday, March 24, at 10:30 a.m. at the Hico Church of Christ. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery in Hamilton. Mrs. Brummett was born Jan. 12, 1915, in Hamilton County, the daughter of Marion Calvin and Vernie March Walker Anderson. She was married to Woodward Petty Brummett on Nov. 25, 1936. She earned a bachelor of arts degree from Daniel Baker College and a masters of education from Texas Christian University. she taught science and mathematics for 41 years at Pecan School, Cranfills Gap, Fairy and Hico schools. She was named University Interscholastic League Coach of the Decade for 1963-73, advanced with a student to the National Science Fair competition, was a consultant to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration High School Space Project and was named an Outstanding Secondary Educator in America. After her retirement, she oversaw the building of a library, which she dedicated to her late husband at Cherokee Home for Children in May 1991. She and her husband were long-time supporters of Cherokee Home and Fosters Home. She donated the land for the Brummett Youth Ranch near Fairy and the first cottage was dedicated in 1996. She was a member of Hico Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers, J.G. "Buck" Anderson and M.C. "Andy Anderson; and a sister, Ruby Anderson Brummett. Survivors include a sister, Irene Thompson of ...; five nieces, Mary Lou Green of ..., Annette Limmer of ..., Nancy Stallone of ...f., Betty Barclay of ... and Jane King of ...; five nephews, Joe Mack Anderson of ..., Michael Anderson of ... David Anderson of ..., Mark Anderson of ... and Grant Brummett of ...; and 14 great-nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to the Brummett Youth Ranch.
