Bio

Lydia L. Kabela, 89, of Victoria, died Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2003. She was born March 12, 1914, in Victoria County, to the late Frank and Julia Frantis Lesikar. She was a homemaker and member of Placedo Brethern Church. Survivors: daughters, Evelyn Horelka of Victoria and Edna Mae Matula of Inez; son, Edward Kabela of Victoria; sisters, Annie Hanus of Skidmore and Viola Hanus of El Campo; brother, Ernest Lesikar of Shiner; 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and four step great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by: husband, Fred Kabela; son, Johnny Kabela; sisters, Olita Schlebach, Sylvia Koenig and Alma Slavik; and brothers, Fred Lesikar, Roy Lesikar, Frank Lesikar, Jessie Lesikar and Edwin Lesikar. Visitation was 6-8 p.m. Thursday at McCabe Carruth Funeral Home chapel. Services will be 10 a.m. today at the funeral home chapel, the Rev. Charles Placker officiating. Burial will beat Shillerville Cemetery. McCabe Carruth Funeral Home, Victoria, 361-573-4341. Pallbearers: Mike Kabela, Calvin Horelka, Rodney Horelka, Fredie Matula, Craig Kabela and Christopher Kabela.
