Bio

Friends and family will gather to celebrate the life of Rose Mary Herring, 90, of Lubbock from 11 a.m. until noon Friday, July 30, 2010 at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. Graveside services will follow at 2 p.m. in Denver City Memorial Park, Denver City. Mrs. Herring died Tuesday, July 27, 2010. Rosie was born April 22, 1920 in Klondike to the late James Samuel and Lucy Ellen (Robnett) Henderson. She graduated from Springlake High School and attended Texas Tech University and Draughn's Business College. She married Waldo Drake and later moved from Texas to California during WWII. After the war, they moved back to Texas and Waldo was killed in a plane crash. Later, Rosie met and married J.E. Herring, and he died in 1969. She worked as a bookkeeper and had a business out of her home for many years. Rosie was a Methodist. She is survived by a stepdaughter, Jerry London; eight nieces and nephews; and numerous great nieces and nephews. Along with her parents and husbands, Rosie was preceded in death by a brother and three sisters.
