Gospel preacher listed in Preachers of Today, Vol. 2, 1959. Luther Loren, pulpit minister for the 31st and Pennsylvania church of Christ, died May 15, 1993 at the age of 78. He had served this Oklahoma City church for 23 years. From 1945 to 1951, he was minister of the Capitol Hill church of Christ in Oklahoma City. During his earlier ministry, he preached over 1,500 daily radio broadcasts over station KLPR. Gieger's career began in East Texas and spanned 59 years. He served as minister for Texas churches of Christ in Dallas (Northside), Fort Worth (West Berry), Tyler (West Erwin), Mt. Pleasant, Mt. Vernon, Talco and Centralia. He preached in evangelistic meetings in many states, authored several booklets, spoke on a weekly TV program and ran a gold stamping service of Bibles and religious books. L.L. Gieger was born October 8, 1914 in Mt. Pleasant, Texas, son of B.L. and Ila Gieger. His college education was at the University of Texas and East Texas State University from which he received a Bachelors Degree in journalism. Mr. Gieger is survived by his wife, Ida with whom he celebrated 58 wedding anniversaries; his son, Dr. Loren Gieger, a professor of Bible, and daughter-in-law, Iola, an administrative assistant at Oklahoma Christian University of Science and Arts. His daughter, Gayla Pope is married to Dr. Terry Pope, professor of Business at Abilene Christian University. His six grandchildren are Leland, Gayland and Shawn Gieger, Abby Pimentel, Adam and Anna Pope. His sister, Valree Matherly resides in Burkburnett, Texas.
