Hugh Landers Simpson was born on October 13, 1876, in Gainesville, Texas, his father, Dewitt, was 39 and his mother, Rose, was 30. He married Ethel S Davis on September 7, 1910, in Jackson, Missouri. He died on July 27, 1955, in Waco, Texas, at the age of 78.
