Joseph H. Joiner Funeral for Joseph H. Joiner, 82, Lawton, will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday at First Baptist West with Wes Kinder officiating. Mr. Joiner died Tuesday, July 13, 2010, in a Lawton hospital. Burial will be in Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, under direction of Becker Funeral Home & Cremation Service. He was born Nov. 19, 1927, at Butler, to Joseph H. Joiner Jr. and Edith C. Clark Joiner. He grew up near Butler and in 1940 moved to Greer County near Granite. He graduated from Tipton High School and later attended Kiowa County Junior College in Hobart. He married Lucille E. Moore on May 28, 1949, in Hobart. She preceded him in death on Aug. 14, 2008. Mr. Joiner was a veteran of the Korean War and also served in the Oklahoma National Guard. He was retired from civil service at Fort Sill in 1988, and, following his retirement, he worked for Northrop and I.T.T. He was a member of First Baptist West. He was very active in scouting and had founded Cub Pack 102, Boy Scout Troop 102 and Explorer Post 102. He was a recipient of the Silver Beaver and Wood Badge Awards and was a vigil member of the Order of the Arrow. He was a 32nd degree Mason, a member of the Wichita Mountains Quarter Horse Association and a member of the Lawton Rangers. He is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law: Richard Joiner, Lawton; and Lenny and Debbie Joiner, Allen, Texas; an adopted son, Wayne Bales and his wife, Mary Etta, Cache; nine grandchildren: Chris, Ashley, Catlyn Ann, Daniel Alexander, Dana, Dale, Erin, Stacy and husband, Brandon, and Britney and husband, Jason; 11 great-grandchildren: Jace, Jamison Haywood, Isabella, Jon Cole, Kate, Ashley, Gracie, Alexis, Kassadee, Maddison and Bryson. He was preceded in death by his parents. The family will greet friends from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 4425 W.
