DEWEY HOLMES CARTER PEARL, MS Mr. Dewey "PaPaw" Holmes Carter, 82, died Saturday, July 3, 2010 at St. Dominic Hospital. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 AM Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Chapel in Pearl with interment in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Monday from 5:30 - 8 PM and Tuesday from 10 – 11 AM. Mr. Carter was a very devoted family man who also showed his devotion to his country while serving in the US Navy during WWII. He retired from Sperry Vickers after 30 years of faithful service. He will be remembered as a very stern, yet loving husband, father and grandfather. Mr. Carter is preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Ann Carter; parents, C. M. "Pappy" Carter and Ila "Bu" Carter and Brother, Clifton Carter. Mr. Carter is survived by his son, Charles "Tippy" Carter (Tina); daughters, Gale Davis (Bobby) and Nell Thornhill (Rodney); brothers, Chuck Carter (Betty) and Walter Carter (Janice); grandchildren, James Maddox, Jr., Treena Young, Shine Boyd, Dainelle Boyd Hollingsworth, Shannon Brown, Lacy Barnes and Mandi Noland; great grandchildren, Carter and Caylie Brooke Boyd, Ryland Barnes, Savanna and Jacob Young.
