Mildred Dorton, 77, of Alma passed away Wednesday, February 28, 2001 in Dallas, Texas. Services were at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 2, 2001 at Corley Funeral Chapel with the Rev. G.G. Melton officiating. Interment followed at New Chatfield Cemetery. Mrs. Dorton was born Sept. 2, 1923. She married Charlie Dorton April 2, 1948. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alonzo and Matilda Eppler; and brothers, Vernon Eppler, Denville Eppler and Raymond Eppler. Mrs. Dorton is survived by her husband, Charlie Dorton of Alma; son and daughter-in-law, Marvin and Virginia Dorton of Alma; daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Jack Johnston of Alma and Vickie and Mike Ford of Ennis; granddaughters, Kelly Pryor and husband Bobby of Rice, Tami Johnston of Alma, Dana Dorton of Rice, and Melanie Atkinson and husband Bryan of Grand Prairie; grandson, Keith Denbow of Ennis; five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
