Mrs. Alta B. (Patches) Santy passed away in Cottage Grove, Oregon, on Saturday, April 19, near the home of her daughter, Gene. Funeral services were held in the Riley Funeral Chapel in Hamilton, on Thursday, April 24. The Reverend R. C. Tennison officiated. Interment was in the I. O. O. F. Cemetery. Mrs. Santy was librarian in the Hamilton Schools for many years, and had lived most of her life here. (Correction: Mrs. Santy taught English and Speech in Hamilton High School for many years.—Elreeta Crain) She was married on June 6, 1926, to Virgil Martin (Rosy) Santy, who was also a respected long time (science) teacher, as well as Superintendent of Hamilton ISD. Soon after her husband's death, Mrs. Santy moved to Waco where she joined the staff of the library at Baylor University. She next held the position of librarian in public schools in El Campo, Sweetwater, and Needles, California. Upon her retirement she returned to Hamilton where she resided until November, 1974, when she moved to Oregon to be near her daughter and family. She was born to Jimmie Grey Parker Tarrant and Mordecai Wayatt Tarrant in Temple Texas, on July 7, 1906. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church of Cottage Grove. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Virgene Ives of Culp Creek, Oregon; and a son, LeRoy Santy of Los Angeles, California; two sisters, Mrs. M. C. Aycock of Temple and Mrs. Lee Burke of Waco. There are six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Hogue Williams, Paul Gilliam, Henry Campbell, Cecil Nix, Fred Fetty, and Robert Williams. - - - - - - - - -- Mrs. Santy painted the oil picture in the baptistery of the two-story First Baptist Church in Hamilton.
