Bio

He was killed in action in Austria Ola Robert Weikle was born on August 29, 1923 in Monroe County, West Virginia to Alden & Lydia Weikle, he was the youngest of four brothers. Weikle was serving with A Company, 114 Infantry Regiment, 44th Infantry Division, when he was killed by a sniper in Forchach, Austria. Sgt Ola Robert Weikle's remains were originally buried in a US Cemetery in Germany, then was moved to the US Cemetery at St. Avold, France in September 1945. He was finally brought home on January 19, 1949 and buried at Mount Herman Baptist Church Cemetery in Sarton, West Virginia. He was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star Sergeant, U. S. Army, World War II
