Daughter of William Jackson and Mary Malinda (Reed) Harkey. First wife of Francis Marion Stinnett. Her daughter, Della (Stinnett) Shinn, is buried in the same cemetery. ∼ Belle Stennett (née Harkey) was born in Pope County, Ark., Aug. 9, 1862; after a long and weary illness, died at her home near Russellville, Ark., Sept. 26, 1892. She leaves behind to mourn their loss a husband and two children—two children having preceded her to the better land. Many were her relatives and friends that ministered to her needs during her lingering sickness. She united with the Methodist Episcopal church, May 23, 1892. Her faith in Christ, rejoicing of being accepted by her Savior, leaves us no room to mourn as those that have no hope. She expressed many times the assurance of the Christian's hope. Let us believe however in the language of Scripture, "I go to prepare a place for you," that in the golden summer of another life, children, mother and father will gather again in sweet reunion where partings are unknown. She is free from the pains that she so long endured here. And when we gather at the river, is it not a sweet consolation to think that among the loved and lost she may meet you on the other side? A good congregation assembled at the church to attend the funeral service, after which she was buried in the Russellville cemetery. "Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord." | The Russellville Democrat • 13 Oct 1892
