Published in the Athens Review January 1, 1942 Funeral services were held in Athens Thursday morning at ten o'clock for Dr. Will Richardson, 75, who succumbed from a lingering illness Tuesday morning in a Jacksonville hospital. The last rites were held at Carroll & Lehr Funeral Home with interment following in the New York community cemetery. A native of Henderson county, Dr. Richardson was born on May 10, 1866. He began Medical Practice as a young man and served the county for over fifty years before his retirement in recent years. He had been in ill health for many months but went to a hospital in Jacksonville in November at the behest of his son, Percy Richardson, Oakland, California, banker. Rev. D. R. Cartlidge, pastor of the West Athens Baptist Church officiated at the funeral services. Pallbearers included Dr. R.E. Henderson, Emmett Lawhon, Ed Dorbandt, Dee Richardson, Frank Richardson, W.B. Stirman, Bradshaw Willingham and A.P. Smith. The only survivor other than his son is a sister, Miss Della Richardson of Athens. Carroll & Lehr Funeral Home had charge of all arrangements.
