Bio

Bessie (Matula) Rejcek, 81, of West, passed away Wednesday, June 30, 2010, in Waco. A rosary will be recited 6 p.m. Friday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel with visitation to follow until 8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, with the Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Bessie Flora was born in Ross, Texas, to the late John and Catherine (Kracmir) Matula. She attended Ross schools and on May 8, 1954, was united in marriage to Albert B. Rejcek in Penelope. Bessie was a professional seamstress working for Lorch Manufacturing, Wolf Manufacturing, and Hubbard Manufacturing. She was also a baker for Czech Stop for over 20 years, before retiring in 2008. Bessie was a longtime member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughter of America Court No. 829, Altar Society, and formerly the K.J.Z.T. Society in Penelope. Bessie enjoyed gardening, baking, cooking Sunday dinners, and loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband on Nov. 29, 1980; brothers, Rudolf Matula and Toby Matula Sr.; and sisters, Katherine Gallia and infant sister, Edith Matula. Survivors include daughters, Marilyn Barak and husband, Gerald, and Johnie Glomb and husband, David, all of Tours, and Terri Tobola and husband, Jeff, of West; sons, Albert Rejcek and wife, Kathy, of West and Harry Rejcek and wife, Linda, of Waco; grandchildren, Aaron Barak, Jennifer Barak, Kimberly Barak, Kristi Glomb, Kevin Glomb, Haden Tobola, Mason Tobola, Amanda Peery and husband, Zeb, Eric Rejcek and wife, Macy, Brannon Rejcek, Chastity Rejcek and Cody Rejcek; brother-in-law, Pete Gallia Sr.; sister-in-law, Ruby Matula; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
