Bio

Jerry F. Brack was born December 11, 1936 in Wichita Falls, Texas to J. C. "Jim" Brack and Elma Elizabeth Lockaby. The last of seven children, Jerry lived in both Burkburnett and Sherman, Texas; however, spent most of his childhood and teen years in the Rio Grande Valley community of Edinburg. After high school, Jerry enlisted in the U.S. Army, and was assigned to the 86th Infantry Regiment stationed with the US Army Garrison in Schweinfurt, West Germany. After being honorably discharged, he went to work for General Telephone Company (GTE) in Sherman and Garland, Texas. In 1958, he was transferred by GTE to Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. It is here he met Patricia "Pat" Lee Mitchell whom he married on January 15, 1960 at the First United Methodist Church in Broken Arrow. Jerry and Pat had two sons, Brad Wayne Brack born 1963 in Broken Arrow, and Burke Aaron Brack born 1967 in Tulsa. From 1966 to 1976, Jerry and family lived on the expansive Osage Indian Reservation in the ranching community of Fairfax. In 1976, GTE transferred Jerry and family to East Texas where they made their home in Henderson. Here he and Pat raised their sons, and he became active in the community forging many wonderful friendships. He was a longtime member and served as an Elder for the South Main Church of Christ. After his retirement from GTE in 1991, Jerry formed his own business called JB Communications. Jerry led a full life filled with humor and love for others. His greatest love was for the Lord, and upon his untimely passing on September 12, 1992, he received his final reward as a good and faithful servant.
