George was 13 yrs when he made the trek with the Mormon Pioneer Overland Travel, 1847–1868 [email protected] Their suggestion: ------------------------- George Washington Perkins Sr., son of Absolom Perkins and Nancy Martin Perkins, was born 01 May 1836 in Perkins Settlement (Macadonia), Hancock county, Illinois. He died 22 Jun 1916 in Pleasant Green (Magna), Salt Lake county, Utah. The cause of death was listed as senile debility, probably caused by arteriosclerosis and the contributory cause was gangrene of the right leg. He married Alice Mellen, the daughter of John Mellen and Jane Ramsden Mellen, on 16 Mar 1869 in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake county, Utah. Alice was born 27 Jun 1845 in Nauvoo, Hancock county, Illinois. She died 22 Oct 1918 in Pleasant Green (Magna), Salt Lake county, Utah. The cause of death was listed as carcinoma of the colon.
